JESS3 Founder Jesse Thomas on PBS Discussing the Art of Animation

This episode of PBS' Off Book series talks to animators and motion graphics creators about the past and present of this magical medium. New York University Professor and filmmaker John Canemaker presents a very brief history of animation and Jesse Thomas, founder of the creative agency JESS3, talks about how motion graphics have thrived on the Internet. Julia Pott, a Brooklyn-based animator, describes her intensely personal creative process and how she brings her experiences to life through "awkward" animal protagonists.

Intel Taps JESS3 for CES

For the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, JESS3 worked closely with processor-powerhouse Intel to design and develop the first ever social media data visualization to run at CES entirely in HTML5 and CSS3. The geosocial heat map was the most popular feature, showing what was "hot" on the show floor in real-time.

JESS3’s Coachella Infographic Featured on The Huffington Post

The Huffington Post’s Los Angeles vertical spotlighted “Coachella by the Likes,” JESS3’s infographic examining Coachella’s roster by number of “Likes” each band has on Facebook. We matched the number of Facebook fans per musical act with their graphic presence on the annual Coachella lineup poster. Making use of the Facebook-liking, data-driven generation, the resulting visualization triggered insightful discoveries about the festival’s lineup. The Huffington Post used our findings to surmise whether “Coachella's iconic poster [does] justice to the most popular acts when it comes to prominence and font size.”

JESS3 Featured by Fast Company Co.CREATE for Role in Infinite Atlas

Infinite Atlas is, in the simplest terms, "an independent research and art project seeking to identify, place and describe every possible location in David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest." In broader terms, it’s an infinitely absorbing marriage of literature and rich location-based data. The map is the work of Washington-based writer, and dedicated Infinite Jest fan, William Beutler. [...] The scope of the project meant Beutler brought in a number of creative partners, including agency JESS3 and DC web development company RedEdge, which helped bring the interactive map to life.

JESS3 CEO and Founder Jesse Thomas along with President, COO and Co-founder Leslie Bradshaw are included in Inc.'s list for America's 30 Coolest Entrepreneurs Under 30 (2012). Along with being included in the list, Inc's J.J. McCorvey covers JESS3's rise to its present day status, "JESS3 is now packing up and moving to Los Angeles, and has developed a specialty in data visualization -- the company employs tactics like stop-motion animation, infographics, and puppetry (yes, puppetry) to present large sets of information for clients like Google, Nike, and ESPN."
