National Day of Action Banner

As a part of Citizen Effect’s CitizenGulf: National Day of Action JESS3 was approached by host Social Media Club of DC to design an illustrated banner of the Gulf — clean and beautiful, the way we would like it to look once again. The banner served as the backdrop for CitizenGulf’s DC National Day of Action on August 25, 2010 — a day which was selected nationally to align with the week of the fifth anniversary of Katrina.

The benefit was held to raise funds to help fishing families find a new, more sustainable future by providing educational resources for their children. On this day, 20 cities across the United States organized local events and collectively raised over $9,000 — $1,600 of which was raised by the DC event alone.

The banner continues to reside at the Citizen Effect headquarters in Washington, DC as a result of their “highest bidder” status during the silent auction.

JESS3’s founder, Jesse Thomas, sat down with Marketing Land as one of 8 industry experts, including other designers and top level executives, to answer the questions “What makes an excellent infographic?” and “What should my expectations be for an infographic?” Jesse stressed in his answers that infographics need to be beautiful, but also meaningful and have the data to back them up, because “the primary purpose of an infographic is to spark informed conversation and action.” He also noted that “An infographic should be intelligent and tell the audience something they don’t already know, but say it with words and terms they do.”

JESS3 Social Tech Infographic Featured on Mashable.com

JESS3's latest infographic The Connected Workspace was featured on Mashable.com. Teaming up with our long time content partners Mindjet, we visualized the benefits of social technology using leveraged data from McKinsey. Interesting highlights from the infographic include the finding that social technology could improve the productivity of some workers by 20-25%, and also that only 3% of companies using social tech are "fully networked" and are "benefiting substantially." Our infographic asks an important question to the modern day working class. What sort of social tech does your company leverage?
