about customer angels

The word evangelist comes from the Latin word "Evangelium", as used in the canonic titles of the four Gospels, and thus The Evangelists are the authors of the four Gospels -- traditionally known as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John (also known as the Four Evangelists). The Greek word originally meant a reward for good news given to the messenger ("good"+ "I bring a message"; the word angel is of the same root) and later "good news". The latter term gives rise to the word "Gospel".

Evangelism marketing is an advanced form of word of mouth marketing (WOMM) in which companies develop customers who believe so strongly in a particular product or service that they freely try to convince others to buy and use it. The customers become voluntary advocates, actively spreading the word on behalf of the company.

Evangelism marketing is sometimes confused with affiliate marketing. However, while affiliate programs provide incentives in the form of money or products, evangelist customers spread their recommendations and recruit new customers out of pure belief, not for the receipt of goods or money. Rather, the goal of the customer evangelist is simply to provide benefit to other individuals.

As they act independently, evangelist customers often become key influencers. The fact that evangelists are not paid or associated with any company make their beliefs perceived by others as credible and trustworthy.

Evangelism literally comes from the three words of 'bringing good news' and the marketing term justly draws from the religious sense, as consumers are literally driven by their beliefs in a product or service, which they preach in an attempt to convert others.

so... think of your customers as the angels they are.

about which came first, Word-of-Mouth Marketing or Marketing worthy of Word-of-Mouth

I met John at the WOMMA conference in dc last week.. he is truely inspiring.

In this presentation, John asks the question … which came first, Word-of-Mouth Marketing or Marketing worthy of Word-of-Mouth?

"It’s like the “Chicken or the Egg” debate which separates those who believe in Creationism and those who believe in Evolutionism.

A similar, albeit much less culturally significant, debate is being waged these days by marketers all over the world. There are marketers who believe WOM can be created and there are marketers who believe the only way to generate long-lasting WOM is for it to evolve from a remarkable product, service, or experience."

The big idea is "building your business, builds your brand".

I found this great holiday user generated content viral promotion for RBLM Scooters.

about pans labyrinth

I saw a preview for "pans Labyrinth" before "the pursuit of happiness"and i was very intrigued... It has a classic feel to it that reminded me of those awesome 80/90s SciFi movies they dont seem to make anymore.. it seems refreshing to see special effects used in such a stylish way, and not just as a realistic bomb exploding.. the special effect techniques they are using are helping the story and become a character in the film. This looks like a fairy tale for adults.

Pan’s Labyrinth juxtaposes the supernatural realm to that of 1940’s Spain, where the Fascist regime is doing its best to quash guerrilla activity in the mountains. The story is told through the eyes of Ofelia, whose mother Carmen has recently remarried to El Capitan Vidal. ...lol, it all sounds very lord of the rings.. but its got a dark edge to it that you dont often see in main stream media.. its has the polish you would expect from a tim burton or something...

IT OPENS THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29th.

this link has some interesting 5min clips.

leslie says;

"The main character, the little girl Ofelia, Spanish version of Ophelia: Derived from Greek ?????? (ophelos) meaning "help". This is the name of a character in Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', who eventually goes insane and drowns herself. "

about transparency in business

Transparency is not only the best policy, it's the only policy. Honesty is the basis of your entire interaction with consumers and colleagues. It's not just about lies or lack thereof - it's about the free exchange of honest information. "Open and honest" should be included in your new employee handbook and should be a mantra for company culture. This doesn't mean that you should start sharing company secrets - quite the contrary. It means that if you can't share company secrets, simply say that. It means employees need to understand that nothing they do is hidden or secret anymore. And it means that we all need to really stop and consider what's really a "secret" and what's simply bothersome to discuss.

Transparency, as used in the humanities, implies openness, communication, and accountability. It is a metaphorical extension of the meaning used in the physical sciences: a "transparent" object is one that can be seen through.

Consumers have always talked about products they like. Marketers must empower consumer evangelists by implementing programs that facilitate spreading the word.

Loyalty is defined as the willingness of someone (customer, an employee, a friend) to make an investment or personal sacrifice in order to strengthen a relationship. How can said someone make an investment on something it doesnt trust?

about Creative Corporate Christmas Presents

Why do so many companies treat potential users so much better than existing users?we shouldnt forget about the people that made our year so memorable...

It doesn't have to be expensive (it is a business after all), just imaginative... Something that screams your company's culture and provides a reason to pause. And if you feel like testing out present ideas, send em on through to me for 'review' :)

This year at Ogilvy we were given a nice blanket that happened to be the nice dark ogilvy red. A nice useable valuable gift.. (Grade: b minus).. not too original.. but useable enough to make up for it. and the logo embrodery was nicely done.

Personally, I think a bottle of champagne is the perfect xmas gift. the timing is perfect.. you give it on the 25th (or before) and they have it on hand for new years.. its reasonabley priced.. and versatile.. some bottles cost more than the other.. you can buy in bulk for a discount.. to kick it up a notch you can put it in a gift bag.. or wrap it in tissue paper.. etc

about customer evangelists + lush soap

I had a remarkable customer experience at lush "hand made soap" store in georgetown. it feels like a cheese store the way fresh product is wrapped up in wax paper and dated. Lush has truely taken something Common and made it uncommon. They have a large customer quote on the chalk board leading to the back room, which makes me think they believe in the "your employee is your customer too" ethic..

Truly passionate customers will evangelize to others. like what im doing right now...

Arlington will be a diverse and inclusive world-class urban community with secure, attractive residential and commercial neighborhoods where people unite to form a caring, learning, participating, sustainable community in which each person is important.

Arlingtonians live this vision every day. It's why our community is one of the most desirable places to live, to work, to invest, to do business, and to play.

To further bring this vision to life — and reflect Arlington's reputation as a sophisticated urban destination — Arlington adopted a new logo in 2004.

The new logo conceptually captures who we are as well as what we aspire to be as a community. The logo is evocative of our history and our traditions. At the same time, its clean, contemporary lines denote a community capable of transformation.

about Educational interactive response systems

the class responds to the teachers comments using a personal remote system. and your answers are tracked

so like the teacher says 4 + 4 :: and you put 9 .. you get a x, she can track how many students got x's and thus change her lesson plan.

the days of slackin are over :: ppl are always gonna be able to look at some one pushing the button.. but it makes one accountable for knowing everyting.
it is very interesting technology.. and if it was fully integrated with school, would change the climate for learning.. interesting stuff..

the teacher can:

1. Author questions using the Chalkboard for later delivery (great
for reducing time creating questions with math symbols for
example)
2. Author questions incorporating graphics and annotating the
graphics for later delivery
3. Deliver questions dynamically writing the questions into the
Chalkboard during the class from any location in the
classroom
4. Control your in-class delivery via the CPS Chalkboard while
moving about the classroom
5. Annotate questions after receiving results from the class
6. Create and use template or use eInstruction provided templates

Three former high school classmates of "Dazed and Confused" director Richard Linklater have filed a lawsuit claiming they have suffered embarrassment and ridicule because of characters based on them in the movie.

The men — Bobby Wooderson, Andy Slater and Richard "Pink" Floyd — say Linklater did not get their permission before creating three characters in the 1993 cult classic sharing their surnames and likenesses. The suit was filed Thursday in Santa Fe against Universal Studios, which released the film.

The movie follows the drug- and alcohol-fueled hijinks of teenagers on the last day of school in May 1976. The men said the negative characterizations in the film have made their lives miserable and caused their neighbors to think poorly of them.

"We had fun in high school, but there is nothing true about that movie. Yet, I am having to deal with it all the time," said Floyd, who works at a car dealership in Huntsville, Texas, where the men went to high school.

Ernest Freeman, one of the plaintiffs' attorneys, said Slater has also had problems because people make assumptions that he takes illegal drugs.

Slater runs a construction and remodeling company and Wooderson works in the technology sector. Both men also still live in Huntsville.

Linklater's agent did not immediately return a message Saturday seeking comment.

The suit was filed in New Mexico because it has a longer statute of limitations than other states for claims of defamation and false light, attorneys said.
